What is a GreenGard Care Kit?

Leather is a durable and resilient material, but it does need to be properly maintained. With this in mind, the GreenGard care kit contains everything you need keep your leather furniture clean and protected. Not only do GreenGard products protect your furniture, they also protect the environment. GreenGard products are environmentally preferred products endorsed by Uniters Spa, and ISO 14001 environmentally certified manufacturer. They are: water based, phosphate free, silicone free, biodegradable, free of hazardous air pollutants, made from raw materials of plant origin, and made from raw materials commonly used in cosmetics. What's more, the packaging is made from recycled paper, the sponges are soy based and the bottles are recyclable.

What is Furniture First Aid?

When you purchase a GreenGard Care Kit to help maintain your furniture’s upholstery, it comes with our 5 Year Furniture First Aid. If you look after your furniture, we’ll help out if you have an accident while using it for up to 5 years. Use your GreenGard products to maintain your furniture’s upholstery and take reasonable precautions to protect it from damage, and we’ll take care of accidental stains or damage* to the upholstery that occur as a result of the furniture being used for its intended purpose.

* Each incident of staining or damage must be reported within 5 days. Accumulated stains and damage are not covered. Further information on the limitations of Furniture First Aid is provided below.

What services are provided under Furniture First Aid?

If you take good care of your furniture, it should last a long time. But accidents happen. Furniture First Aid is designed to give you greater peace of mind by providing you with protection against some of those accidents. Furniture First Aid protects your furniture's upholstery from accidental stains or damage that occur as a result your furniture being used for its intended purpose, as shown below.

Accidental stains caused by water, oil and alcohol based substances, including:

  • All food and beverages
  • Human and pet bodily fluids
  • Common household substances including: cosmetics, glue, grease and tar, soaps and shampoos, ink, and wax.

Please note: Furniture First Aid does not cover stains caused by products that are not water, oil or alcohol based, including, but not limited to nail polish, superglue, and permanent markers.

Accidental damage including:

  • Scuffs, scratches, punctures and rips
  • Cigarette burns
  • Pet scratches

Please note: claims for cigarette burns and damage caused by pets are limited to one claim for each and Multimaster’s liability is limited to repairing a single panel of the furniture. Pet damage where the damage extends through the furniture`s upholstery are not covered under Furniture First Aid.

How does Furniture First Aid work?

  1. Use the products in your GreenGard Care Kit to maintain your furniture as directed.
  2. If your furniture is accidentally stained or damaged as a result of using it for its intended purpose, contact us within 5 days for advice and assistance.
  3. If you can’t remove the stain, or your furniture was damaged, we will send a technician to clean or repair your furniture. If your furniture cannot be cleaned or repaired, we will re-upholster or replace the affected part. If this is not an option, we may replace the suite (pro rata).

If we deem a replacement to be necessary, the cost of replacement furniture will be covered by us on a pro rata basis. We will contribute replacement costs as follows:

  • Up to the 1st year anniversary of delivery, we will provide 100% of the replacement cost.
  • Up to the 2nd year anniversary of delivery, we will provide 90% of the replacement cost.
  • Up to the 3rd year anniversary of delivery, we will provide 80% of the replacement cost.
  • Up to the 4th year anniversary of delivery, we will provide 65% of the replacement cost.
  • Up to the 5th year anniversary of delivery, we will provide 50% of the replacement cost.

What furniture is Furniture First Aid available with?

You can purchase Fabric Protection or a GreenGard Care Kit and Furniture First Aid with most fabric upholstered furniture, including: lounge chairs, lounge suites, recliners, bedheads, bed-frames and dining chairs.

How many pieces of furniture will Furniture First Aid cover?

Furniture First Aid is available in three sizes:

  • Single: for 1 seat
  • Double: for 2-4 seats
  • Multiple: for 5-7 seats

What’s a seat?

To make it easy to include different types of furniture on the same Furniture First Aid plan we have developed the “seat” unit of measurement. A “seat” is equivalent to a single lounge seat.

  • Lounge Seats: a “seat” is equal to the number of people who can sit on the furniture. For example, a single recliner = 1 seat, a three seater sofa = 3 seats, etc.
  • Dining Chairs: four dining chairs are equal to one seat.

What about beds?

  • Upholstered bedheads:
    Single or King Single = Single
    Double, Queen, King, Super King, NZ King, California King = Dual
  • Fully upholstered beds (bedhead, sides and footboard):
    Single or King Single = Dual
    Double, Queen, King, Super King, NZ King, California King = Multiple

What should I do if I spill something on my furniture?

Act immediately! Most spills can be cleaned from leather if you act quickly.

  1. Scrape off any solid materials using a spoon or blunt knife, and vacuum or sweep off any dry residue. Do not vacuum or sweep the area if the stain is still wet.
  2. Soak-up any liquids using a clean, colour-fast cloth.
  3. Clean the area using Hydrating Leather Cleaner. If the stain has been removed allow the leather to dry, and then apply Protecting Leather Conditioner to area.
  4. If you can’t remove the stain using Hydrating Leather Cleaner, contact us as soon as possible to make a service request. You are required to call us within five days, but the sooner you contact us, the easier the stain will be to remove.

What should I do if my furniture has been damaged?

If your furniture has been damaged, contact us within five days to make a service request.

When you call please ensure that you have your original invoice and Furniture First Aid registration number at hand. If you have not already done so, you will be required to register your Furniture First Aid and provide proof of purchase (a copy of your invoice or sales receipt).

Your responsibilities

  • You must purchase your GreenGard Care Kit with Furniture First Aid at the same time as your new furniture (the kit and furniture must be on the same invoice).
  • Before you use your new furniture, you must check that it is free from stains, soiling or damage.
  • You must use the products in your GreenGard Care Kit as directed.
  • You must apply Protecting Leather Conditioner before using your furniture, and reapply it after cleaning your furniture with Hydrating Leather Cleaner or any other leather cleaner.
  • You must regularly clean and correctly maintain your furniture. Maintenance guidelines are provided in your Furniture First Aid brochure. Particular care should be taken if you are taking certain medications (including, but not limited to, some chemotherapy, blood pressure and heart medications). Residues of these medications can be excreted in perspiration and cause additional stains or damage.
  • Do not use or apply any cleaning or protection product not approved by Multimaster. If you do, you will void your Furniture First Aid.
  • Furniture First Aid does not eliminate the need for routine cleaning and maintenance of your furniture. When leather is correctly maintained, it is possible to clean and repair most staining and damage. How to care for leather
  • You must contact us within five days of any incident causing a stain or damage (accumulated stains and damage are not covered under Furniture First Aid).
  • You must be able to tell us how the stain or damage occurred (Furniture First Aid does not cover unidentified stains or damage).

Limitations of the Furniture First Aid

  • Furniture First Aid is related the Multimaster product that you purchased, it is not an extended manufacturer’s warranty for your furniture. Furniture First Aid does not cover manufacturing faults of any kind, including upholstery that is not of acceptable quality or does not meet Australian standards.
  • Furniture First Aid is not a maintenance contract or a cleaning contract. Furniture First Aid does not cover accumulated stains or damage.
  • Furniture First Aid is not an insurance policy. The Furniture First Aid only covers stains and damage that occur when the furniture is being used for its intended purpose. It does not cover: fire damage; flood damage; acts of god; natural disasters; furniture that is in storage; furniture that is in transit or being transported (including within your home); or stains and damage that are not a result of the furniture being used for its intended purpose or the result of other activities within the home (for example, paint splatters that occur while painting nearby walls or ceilings).
  • Furniture First Aid does not cover unidentifiable or unexplainable stains or damage. You need to be able to tell us how the stain or damage happened.
  • Furniture First Aid only applies to the fabric upholstered cover of your furniture. Furniture First Aid does not cover structural damage (including damage to stitching, buttons, zippers, decorative trims, foams, frames and mechanisms), or pet damage where the damage extends through the furniture’s upholstery.
  • Furniture First Aid only applies to individual incidents of accidental staining or damage, Furniture First Aid does not cover accumulated stains or damage, wear and tear or anything that happens gradually. Including: dye transfer; damage from accumulated perspiration, hair and body oils; and accumulated incidents of damage.
  • Furniture First Aid only covers furniture that is properly maintained and being used for its intended purpose. Furniture First Aid does not cover damage caused by: mishandling, deliberate acts, abuse or vandalism (including damage caused by pets and children); the incorrect us of, or failure to use, the Multimaster products; oxidation; corrosion; or sun damage.
  • Furniture First Aid does not cover stains caused by products that are not water, oil or alcohol based. Including, but not limited to: nail polish, permanent markers, super glues, and solvent based paints. Furniture First Aid does not cover the removal of odours
  • Furniture First Aid only covers furniture for domestic use. Furniture First Aid does not cover furniture that is used for commercial or rental purposes.
  • Service under Furniture First Aid is provided at no cost to you, provided you live within a 150 km radius of a designated Multimaster Service Centre (or retail store of purchase). If you live outside the service area, you may be required to pay the freight cost to have your furniture cleaned or repaired. Alternately, it will be your responsibility to organise delivery of your furniture to the nearest service centre, or retail store of purchase, for service under Furniture First Aid.
